Not everything is meant to be intense, driven, or “on”, and it was never designed to be. (And you are not designed for it either..!)

A symphony always has a slow movement - my fav is the 4th movement in Mahler 5..🫠 It creates a space where the music can breathe, settle, and deepen - especially for a horn player that has tacet in that movement..😁👌🏻

It’s not a break from the music, it is part of it.

Your playing depends on a grounded, free body,
a regulated nervous system, and a focused brain.

Life lesson from someone with size 35(US 5) feet:
I’ve worn shoes that were too big for me my whole life. Sometimes literally, but also quite often not.

I tend to say yes to things that feel a little too big in the beginning. Like this week. For the 11th time (6th(?) as a main chief) I’ve created a theatre production from scratch in just four days at Lakselv Ungdomsskole, with help from a few other instructors and some of the schools regular teachers. About 100 students involved in this edition. And that means for me being script writer, producer, director, theatre instructor and dance instructor in the same project.

Total madness, obviously. But also one of those things that reminds me why I love saying yes to challenges that feel slightly too big at first. I trust the process, and that’s where so much of the learning happens.

So a small tip from someone with very small feet: don’t wait until the shoes fit perfectly. Just put them on and walk anyway. You might grow into them.

And the students? They put on an incredible show that ran amazingly smoothly, with seamless transitions throughout — even with students behind the lighting and sound - making it all happen!🤩

A huge thank you to the amazing instructors, teachers and especially the students — and to everyone in the community who contributed in different ways to make this happen. Also got some amazing nature experiences and wonderful moments with new and old friends.

Hope to see you again in three years!🩷
