MUSIC BACKGROUND

Lene Aadalen Skomedal

Music and my horn has always been a very big part of my life, and I totally love the sound of the horn with the possibilities to create all sorts of colors and carachters - and the big range of tones. Being a freelancer again and get the possibility to work with such a huge variation of ensembles, people and places is really amazing, and I have realized that this is better for me than having a fixed job.

I am a Paxman Artist and have a master degree in orchestra playing from the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, where I studied from 2003-2009 for Per Göran and Lisa Ford. I have also taken lessons with Frøydis Ree Wekre, Jonathan Lipton, William Vermeulen among others.

Since 2005 I have been working as a freelance horn player and I have had the pleasure of playing with many different ensembles, mostly in Scandinavia. I had a fixed job in 2014 as co-principal horn in Norrlandsoperan, Umeå, Sweden, but moved back to Gothenburg in 2015 and have been freelancing again since then. Latest long contract I took was solo horn in Copenhagen Phil, autumn 2021.

Some of the ensembles I have played in

Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Gothenburg Opera, Gothenburg Wind Orchestra, Helsingborgs Symphony Orchestra, Norrlandsoperans Symphony Orchestra, Jönköpings Sinfonietta, Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Musica Vitae, Wermland Opera, Läckö Opera, Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, Copenhagen Phil, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, Norwegian Army Band, Norwegian Marine Band, Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, Swedish Navy Band among others.

Some of the music festivals I have played at

Styrsö Kamarmusikdagar (Sweden), Flatön Kammarmusikfestival (Sweden), CORNO Brass Music Festival (Poland), IV Encuentro de Cornos de Chile (Chile), Citguad (Spain)  â€‹

Some of the film music I have recorded

All horn parts for the feature films "Rafiki"(2009) and "The Toughest Guys" (2013).

I play a Paxman m20 since 2019. Before that I played a m23 for many years, as seen in some of the pictures on my website.

Lene was an incredible enrichment for our horn festival. Yoga is a wonderful complement and Lene has ideal credibility as an outstanding trainer and horn player. This double competence means that even skeptics are happy to get involved in the yoga workshops. Lene offers workshops for beginners and professionals and has a sense of what is needed at the moment. The fact that she herself is as cheerful as sunshine and super organized rounds off Lene's "package". I can recommend them for every festival and master class. Just not when our festival is arranged, please - then we need her here!
